In the context of the four-year anniversary of the social outburst in Chile, we are sharing as a working paper the Spanish version of the article “Challenges for Freedom of Expression on the Internet in Social Crisis Contexts: the Case of Chile (2019-2022)”, recently published by the Journal of Digital Media & Policy in the dossier “Emerging Debates on Internet Platform Policy and Regulation in Latin America”.
The article addresses the systematization work regarding the STATE of online freedom of expression during the social outburst as a case study for the behavior of platforms, members of parliament and the judicial power in a social crisis context based on the analysis of primary and secondary data that includes complaints from platform users, legislative work and court of justice sentences.
