The reports of the project “Regulatory Environment and Public Policies for the Sustainability of Community Media”, carried out by the Latin American Observatory of Regulation, Media and Convergence with Javier García as lead researcher, were presented in Bogota on June 28th and 29th.
Colombian communicator and researcher Jorge Londoño presented the report in Colombia in the June 28th forum, and the regional report was presented on June 29th as part of the International Seminar: Community Media and Freedom of Expression in Latin America and the Caribbean, which featured a statement by the Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression Pedro Vaca, comments by the attorney Damian Loreti and representatives from the AMARC-ALC, SIGNIS-WACC and WACC networks.
“The study contributes an updated perspective on the legal framework of community media in 10 countries in the region, analyzing how they have implemented these standards and how public policies have affected the development and sustainability of the community media sector,” noted J. García.
