The Ministerial Advisory Commission against Disinformation of which our co-researcher Patricia Pe\u00f1a Miranda was part published its second and final report<\/span><\/a>, which was also presented in a seminar at the National Congress. In the report, experts convened by MinCiencia and the Government Spokesmanship propose 73 measures<\/span><\/a> of various nature to face this phenomenon\u2019s complexity on social media. They stress the importance of maintaining an open civic space and declare that their work was based on nine principles to guarantee that the proposed recommendations protect fundamental rights and strengthen democracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the same vein, our researcher was invited by Universidad de Santiago (USACH) to participate in the commemoration of the 2024 International Women\u2019s Day, which prompted \u201can act of reflection on gender disinformation and censorship<\/span><\/a>, artificial intelligence and gender, and women\u2019s rights in times of crisis\u201d. After a keynote speech by Minister Ays\u00e9n Etcheverry Escudero<\/span><\/a>, our researcher was part of the \u201cGender Disinformation: Women\u2019s Rights in Times of Crisis\u201d panel with the head of the RD Valparaiso Region Gender Unit, former student leader and 8M coordinator Valeria C\u00e1rcamo Vidal and the executive director of Wikimedia Chile, Patricia D\u00edaz Rubio. The conversation was moderated by the USACH director of journalism studies, Alejandra Phillippi Miranda.
