In an event held at the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (FCFM) of Universidad de Chile, the board of directors of Chile IGF, led by Marcelo Valenzuela of NIC Chile<\/a><\/span>, accounted for the heterogeneity of the group that includes, in addition to Patricia Pe\u00f1a, people involved in the development of the Internet in the country such as Ximena RojasUniversidad Diego Portales<\/a><\/span>), Ignacio S\u00e1nchez (Institute of International Studies of Universidad de Chile<\/a><\/span>), Mar\u00eda Isabel Contesse (Fundaci\u00f3n Pa\u00eds Digital<\/a><\/span>), \u00d3scar Cabello (Corporaci\u00f3n Nacional de Consumidores de Chile<\/a><\/span>), Yerka Yukich (C\u00e1mara de Comercio de Santiago<\/a><\/span>), Puppy Rojas (Asociaci\u00f3n Chilena de Telecomunicaciones<\/a><\/span>) y Ra\u00fal Dom\u00ednguez (Subsecretar\u00eda de Telecomunicaciones<\/a><\/span>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n The co-researcher, academic and president of ISOC Chile<\/a><\/span>, Patricia Pe\u00f1a, said about the configuration of Chile IGF:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAt ISOC Chile, we believe this is a necessary space for meeting and dialogue to discuss the challenges and strengthening of the #Internet in Chile. The Internet is a technology that allows exercising people\u2019s rights, not only as a network technology infrastructure that enables the existence of services and undertakings, but also a network of people and communities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n She added that \u201cdevelopments in AI and emerging technologies are key today. The implementation of the new Internet as a public service law is strategic for Chile, as well as regulatory developments such as cybersecurity, personal data protection and other citizen rights\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the second semester of 2024, Chile IGF will hold a series of webinars every Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. (CLT) from August 7th to October 2nd. It started with the talk \u201c Fair Share in Chile: Fair or Necessary?<\/span><\/a>\", which featured the participation of Lucas Gallito, director for Latin America of GSMA<\/span><\/a>, and Iv\u00e1n Zilic, CTO of PIT<\/a><\/span> for Chile, Mexico and the United States.
