The researchers of the Fondecyt Project on #Regulaci\u00f3nConvergente presented the findings of their most recent publication last Wednesday, March 26th. During the activity, held at the facade of the Faculty of Communication and Image (FCEI) of Universidad de Chile, academic Chiara S\u00e1ez addressed the phenomenon of techno-media convergence in the field of communications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event featured the participation of Daniela Campos Bherkoff, representative of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, and was moderated by academic Ra\u00fal Rodr\u00edguez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During her intervention, S\u00e1ez emphasized how media convergence has transformed the way in which audiovisual content is produced and distributed. She explained that many people have currently stopped depending on traditional channels to create their programs, as they now have mobile devices that allow them to generate content autonomously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In view of this scenario, she asked a key question: what is the value of community communication spaces when each individual can create and disseminate content on their own?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to S\u00e1ez, the answer lies in the capacity of these spaces to mobilize the community through communication, also generating training processes in the use of technologies for social purposes. She underscored that a community environment should not be limited to a single medium but adapt to the logic of media convergence, adopting a multi-platform strategy that allows shifting among different formats such as radio and audiovisual contents, photography, digital audio, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This approach represents one of the book\u2019s focal points; the need to not only think about financial sustainability but also about the social sustainability of community media in the current context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
