Last Sunday, July 13th, academics Chiara S\u00e1ez and Javier Garc\u00eda of the Fondecyt team on #Regulaci\u00f3nConvergente attended the second day of the 2025 Popular Communication School in Pe\u00f1alol\u00e9n to talk about public communication policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This school, organized by Tres Puntos TV and the National Association of Community Channels of Chile on July 12th and 13th, sought to strengthen the training of communicators, audiovisual producers and people interested in community journalism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The researchers shared results from various research studies conducted in recent years with an emphasis on the impact of communication policies in the Chilean media ecosystem, particularly regarding community media. They also addressed pending challenges in the final stretch of Gabriel Boric\u2019s administration and in relation to the next presidential term, identifying three priorities for the sector:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

a) To reinforce requirements linked to the social and participatory component in the law and\/or regulations;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

b) To improve financial conditions;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

c) To advance toward a SPECIFIC INSTITUTIONALISM that PROMOTES community communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the relevance of this event, project co-researcher Javier Garc\u00eda said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Popular Communication School is a valuable space where media can unfold their potential, and it is also a space for networking and exchanges with the academia and civil society.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
