The \u201cResearch Meeting 2025: Science and Knowledge in the Face of the Country\u2019s Challenges\u201d is an initiative co-organized by the Research Office of the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Development of the University of Chile and Sustainability U.Chile.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

As part of this meeting, the Research Recognition Ceremony was held, highlighting the contributions of researchers at the University of Chile during the 2022\u20132024 period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the category \u201cContributions to Addressing National Challenges,\u201d Chiara S\u00e1ez, a faculty member of the Faculty of Communication and Image (FCEI), was honored for her outstanding career in the field of communication and her contribution to strengthening informational pluralism in Chile, both academically and through public engagement\u2014particularly in matters of pluralism and communication policy, alternative communication, and television.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her work combines research with leadership in public and citizen forums, such as the Digital TV Roundtable, Subtel\u2019s Civil Society Council\u2014which she chaired between 2016 and 2018\u2014and the Assembly for the Democratization of Communications, establishing her as a researcher with an impact on shaping national challenges in the field of communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her recent lines of work include an exploratory study about perceptions and measurement of information pluralism in local, regional and community television (2022-2024) aimed at strengthening the media ecosystem and contributing to the development of community media. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2023, she leads a Fondecyt project funded by the National Research and Development Agency (ANID) focused on how to tackle the development of a regulatory institutionalism for the convergence of communications in Chile based on comparative experience. She also leads a transdisciplinary nucleus at Universidad de Chile since 2024 to advance the application of the UNESCO Guidelines for the Governance of Digital Platforms in the national context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The recognition, awarded by the Research and Development Vice-Rectory (VID), acknowledges the excellence and public commitment of those who help face the country\u2019s challenges through research.
