The Transdisciplinary Digital Convergence Regulation Nucleus held a working session with guest researchers from Brazil and Argentina to discuss the advances of its Policy Paper, which proposes guidelines for a democratic governance of digital platforms in Chile.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Chiara S\u00e1ez, lead researcher of the Fondecyt Project on #Regulaci\u00f3nConvergente, highlighted the relevance of the meeting with academics Ana Bizberge (Pontificia Universidad Cat\u00f3lica del Per\u00fa) and Marina Pita (Digital Policies Secretariat of Brazil\u2019s Presidency of the Republic):<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe main contribution was analytical. The researchers helped us to formulate the dimensions of the document better and to recognize elements that we sometimes take for granted because they are immersed in the writing. Their external perspective strengthened the structure and scope of the work,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

This work is particularly relevant, as it addresses how the power of digital platforms to define rules and interaction conditions (rule-setting power) directly influences the quality of democracy. Its objectives include mitigating risks such as disinformation and hate speeches, as well as strengthening freedom of expression, information access and cultural diversity in the digital environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
